Residual pesticides in teas were evaluated using the multi-residue method of the Korea Food Code for 510 pesticides through GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS with the QuEChERS method. A total of 157 teas were purchased in 2022 from a local market in Jeju. Among the 157 teas, 31 pesticides were detected in 22 (14.0%), and three teas exceeded the maximum residue limits (MRLs). Fifteen insecticides, 13 fungicides and 3 herbicides were detected. Risk assessment of the detected pesticides was assessed by calculating the percentage of acceptable daily intake (%ADI) based on the proportion estimated daily intake to average daily exposure. The %ADI was safe for consumption in the range of 0.0031-2.7913%, including teas that exceeded the MRLs. Therefore, detailed and accurate MRLs in residual pesticides are needed for tea products.
